Scripture is fundamental to the life of the Coptic Orthodox Christian. Biblical Theology (BIBL 631) will focus on the relationship of Scripture to the Orthodox tradition and the general theological themes found within Scripture. The course then goes on to the use of Scripture within a liturgically worshipping community, the Church. This course takes 8 weeks to complete, is 3-credit hours, and is entirely online. This course can be applied to a Certificate in Orthodox Biblical Studies and to a Master’s in Orthodox Christian Apologetics or a Master’s in Orthodox Biblical Studies.

This course (BIBL 604) analyzes Egyptian history and culture, utilizing archaeological, textual, and iconographic sources. Biblical narratives that are set in Egypt, or where Israelite history intersects with Egypt, will be examined, with special emphasis on the Hebrew sojourn and Exodus.
