This course provides an overview of the history and development of Coptic hymnology, focusing primarily on structure, tune and systematic placement. Utilization of the Ordo of the Church manuscripts, written liturgical resources, and the oral tradition from various regions of Egypt provides a thorough depiction of Coptic hymnological tradition. Extrapolating the foundational principles found in these resources furthers Coptic liturgical understanding and participation.
