Coptic Hymnology III (Festal Hymns)

Coptic Hymnology III will focus on moderate to advanced Coptic Festal hymns for the Feasts of the Nativity, Resurrection, and Pentecost in the Coptic liturgical calendar. More specifically, these hymns will include: Is Pateer (long), Tobh Hina (long), Ee-Parthenos, O Nim Nai, Kata Nikhoros, Tolithos, Teen Anastasin, Piepnevma. Each week a new hymn is taught through video files and custom hand-written musical ornaments. Each lesson includes spiritual, theological, and practical commentary on each given hymn. The student is then expected to learn, record, and upload that hymn for grading. Additionally, each week, students are required to offer an online post reflecting on the hymn, its meaning, and its spirituality, bearing in mind its placement within the broader framework of the given liturgical service.
