Fr. Bishoy L. Mikhail’s love for working in community development gave him the blessing to be called to serve the community of the full ordained Deacons in NJ, after a commission from the Papal Exarch in NJ in February 2018. Since then he has been studying the needs of the Deacons, working with them to utilize their current resources and preparing with them the educational and practical needs for their service. Fr. Bishoy obtained an M.A. in Theological Studies from Pope Shenouda III Seminary in Fall 2018 from His Holiness Pope Tawadros II. Prior to this, he received his M.A. in Participation, Power and Social Change from the University of Sussex, Institute of Development Studies (IDS), in Brighton, UK in January 2010 on a scholarship from Ford Foundation. He also completed a Short Certificate in Advocacy and Networking from the Coady Institute at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Canada in 2005 on a scholarship from the Middle East Council of Churches because of his work with the refugees and highly impoverished communities in Egypt, Sudan and Lebanon. Fr. Bishoy serves in St. Antonious & St. Mina Coptic Orthodox Church in East Rutherford, NJ since his ordination in June 2009 by His Holiness Pope Shenouda III.
