Fr. Youssef Chehata, M.D.

Fr. Youssef Chehata is currently the priest of St. Anthony Coptic Orthodox Church in Annville, PA. He was ordained to the priesthood by the late Pope Shenouda the Third - of the blessed memory- the Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria , in March 2002. Fr. Chehata holds a Master's of Arts in Theology which he received from the Pope Shenouda III Coptic Orthodox Theological Seminary in September 2018. Fr. Chehata is originally a native of Alexandria, Egypt. In 1982, he graduated from the faculty of Medicine of Alexandria University and In 1989 he received a Master's degree in internal medicine from the same University. In 1995 he was elected to the membership of the Royal college of Physicians (MRCP) in the United Kingdom. He practiced Medicine as an Internist and Rheumatologist both in Egypt and the U.K. for twenty years from 1982-2002. Fr. Chehata speaks Arabic (his native language), English, and French. In his interest to read the Bible in its original languages, Fr. Chehata studied both the Hebrew and the Greek languages in addition to the following courses: "The Jewish background of the New Testament," "Discovering the Hebrew Bible," and "Exploring the Biblical land of Israel."
